Beginning February 16, 2021, IEX Cloud is launching new paid plans on the platform. We’ve made our pricing model simpler, more scalable, and easier to use. This includes:
-
Updating our paid plan offerings to replace Launch, Grow, and Scale plans with Individual and Business plans.
-
We’re changing the term “messages” to “credits.” IEX Cloud credits will work the same way as messages – the name is the only difference.
You can learn more about these changes in our overview here.
If you’re already a paying customer, use this guide to answer FAQs about transitioning to our new Individual and Business plans.
If I already have a legacy IEX Cloud plan, can I switch to the new model?
Users that signed up for their paid plan before February 16, 2021, can choose to switch to an updated paid plan, or if preferred, remain on their current legacy plan.
You can update your plan in the middle of your current term in the following ways:
-
If you use the Launch plan, you can upgrade to either the Individual or Business plan (either monthly or annual).
-
If you use the Grow plan, you can upgrade to our Business plan (either monthly or annual).
-
If you use the monthly Scale plan, you can upgrade to our annual Business plan.
-
If you use our annual Scale plan, you can switch to one of our new plans at the end of your current term.
At the end of your current term, you can switch to either new plan, both monthly and annual.
The new plans offer several advantages:
-
Switching from Launch to the Individual plan: With the Individual plan, Cloud Cache is included for no additional charge, rather than being a paid add-on. The Individual plan provides the same five million credits you’re used to on Launch each month. Note that the Individual plan provides one token and one user, whereas the Launch plan provides two tokens and two user logins.
-
Switching from Launch, Grow, or Scale to the Business plan: With our Business Plan, Cloud Cache is included for no additional charge, rather than being a paid add-on. You’ll also get access to more features as they get released, plus access to Data Firehose and the option to use MSAs and/or ACH payments. Stay tuned for exciting new releases!
What happens to overages on legacy plans (Launch, Grow, and Scale)?
Overages will not change for legacy Launch, Grow, and Scale plans. If you choose to remain on one of those plans, you will still be billed for any pay-as-you-go overages at the end of each month. Learn more about how pay-as-you-go overages work here.
Will IEX Cloud still provide the free Start plan?
Yes. Our free plan will still operate the same way for existing and new users. The plan includes 50,000 credits, provides one token, and one user login. The free plan provides access to a limited set of datasets, including:

Will Premium Data pricing change?
If you continue to use our Launch, Grow, and Scale plans, pricing for Premium Data will remain the same. Premium Data can be purchased in addition to your plan through pay-as-you-go credits, or prepaid Premium Data credits. Premium Data credits will also continue to work as they do currently. Learn more about Premium Data credits and pay-as-you-go credits here.
If you use Premium Data with our Individual or Business plans, you can purchase Premium Data through prepaid Premium Data credits only.
Premium Data is available as an add-on to all paid plans, including both legacy plans and Individual or Business plans. Learn more.
Are there any changes to monthly versus annual billing?
No. We will still offer the flexibility of monthly billing, as well as discounted annual billing. You can choose to pay for your plan month to month, or alternatively, pay upfront for an annual plan and save up to 52% per year.
About IEX Cloud’s Legacy Plans
If you signed up before February 16, 2021, you may have a legacy plan. See our old pricing model below.

You may also be familiar with the term “messages.” We updated the term “messages” to “credits” to make their usage and definition easier to understand. Credits are the same thing as messages and work in the same way.
