On February 16, 2021, IEX Cloud launched new paid plans on the platform. We’ve made our pricing model simpler, more scalable, and easier to use. This includes:
-
Updating our paid plan offerings.
-
Changing the term “messages” to “credits.” IEX Cloud credits work the same way as messages – the name is the only difference.
With our new pricing, you're able to choose one of the following plans:
-
Start: IEX Cloud’s free plan remains the same, ideal for users who are just getting started and want to test the platform.
-
Individual: Ideal for personal projects, students, freelancers, and light use.
-
Business: Great for teams and scaling with your business as it grows.
If you're not familiar with our Individual and Business plan, you can learn more about these two plans and their pricing in our article here. Both plans can be used for either personal or commercial purposes.
You can choose your plan based on your use case and customize it further by adding “packages.” Packages help you scale your usage of the platform as your project or business grows.
Packages can be used to pull more data and connect more applications to your subscription or invite additional team members to your account. Learn more about packages below. For our new plans, you purchase packages instead of paying overages. For our legacy plans, overages will continue to work as they currently do.
Learn more about packages and overages here under “How do overages work with the new plans?”
I signed up before February 16. Will anything change for me?
If you signed up before February 16, these updates don’t change anything about your existing plan. While you have the option of switching to one of the updated plans as described here, you can also continue using your current plan if preferred. Furthermore, we’re still offering the same free Start plan to all users.
For more guidance on which plan is best for you and instructions on how to move to a new plan, check out our help article here. If you upgrade, downgrade, or change to a new paid plan, it’s important to note that you cannot switch back to a legacy plan in the future.
Update or manage your plan in the IEX Cloud Console.
Why did we make these updates?
We heard your feedback, and we listened! The new pricing plans introduce simpler options designed to better scale with you as you grow. They’re built to be:
-
Easier to use: Choose your plan based on your use case rather than just estimating usage of credits (or messages).
-
More customizable: Scale your plan as you go with packages rather than dealing with variable pay-as-you-go costs each month.
-
Great for our whole community – both individuals and businesses: Our new model provides simpler sign-up for individuals while providing the flexibility for businesses to solve a range of problems with one plan and one setup.
Furthermore, we updated the term “messages” to “credits” to make its definition and usage clearer to our users. Credits work in the same way as messages – we’ve only changed the name to make the terminology easier to understand.
